BLOGGING BOOMER CARNIVAL #16: THE RETURN OF SUPERGIRL
Supergirl or Boomergirl, as we in the Boomersphere refer to her, is in trouble and only the Blogging Boomer Carnival #16 can save her. As you know Supergirl graduated MidVale High School in 1965 at 17.
Gen X in cahoots with Gen Y had Boomergirl fired. They said she was too old. It almost killed her.
She swirled in confusion -
Until she heard Wesley at LIFETWO: The male midlife crisis seems to get all the press, but women get them too. In only six minutes, this LifeTwo Podcast covers the unique aspects of female midlife crisis. Link
Now she knew, she had a midlife crisis; Boomergirl felt so low and humiliated that she needed a disguise and sunglasses - Over at CAFE GLAM, the fashion blog that helps women 40+ look and feel fabulous, Deborah and JoJami tell us what’s hot in sunglasses for boomers this spring. Link
Boomergirl felt like a flying bat instead of a Supergirl.
The years passed and the resentment grew: Micki over at THE REARVIEW MIRROR tried to help Boomergirl:
The basic definition of resentment is a feeling of anger at something regarded as a wrong done. Resentment can manifest itself as anger, depression or despondency. Link
Boomergirl tried to get a job, right. Who was going to hire her? Wendy told her - Whether you live in the big city or a small town, trying to find work after fifty is just plain tough. This week GEN PLUS shares the frustration of one 50 plus-jobseeker: Link
Boomergirl was down. All the Gen's were taking advantage of her. Desperate she turned to coke.
Not that coke, I meant -
She needed a comfort drink one that would remind her of the way things were: Ron at I REMEMBER JFK, waxes nostalgically: "We Boomers bought a lot of Coke when we were kids. We still do, for that matter. So did our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents." Link
More years past. Should she retire, but from what? She hadn't worked in over twenty years. Turning sixty she sought John over at - SO BABY BOOMER to see if this was the right time. As Baby Boomers approach sixty, the big question becomes: "When to retire?" Link
At this point, I was feeling braindead and asked Caroline at SHARPBRAINS question 21:
I am busy executive with a challenging job. How is brain fitness relevant to me? How stress management may help us improve our quality of life and performance at work: Link
No self worth, No self worth that was Boomergirl's mantra:
She visited Nicolette at MAN-O-PAUSE, who advised her - About another gem of an article that she would like to share in part "Most of us were taught to find our self-worth from temporary conditions external to our beings. That does not work. That is dysfunctional..." Link
Boomergirl practiced flying again, If you are 50+ and have not lost your competitive edge the Summer National Senior Games/Senior Olympics could be just the outlet you are looking for: Link
Now she was ready to meet all her fears, once she read Rhea's 10 fears about growing old at THE BOOMER CHRONICLES, and Boomergirl related to the worse of Rhea's fears - Old Lady Arms. Rhea offerered her exercises and a candy bar from 1962. Link
With all the internal and external work Boomergirl had done, she was ready to take the toughest test of all from Ann at CONTEMPORARY RETIREMENT: the 'Which Superhero am I?' test to discover which Superhero you most resemble: Link
After taking the Super Hero Test, Boomergirl found out - She was not a girl. She was a woman. A confident, self-assured baby boomer.
Some of you may know her.

Omigosh. This is simply hysterical. Oops. Gotta run. Have to take my super-pills and head out to battle 50 plus injustices around America.
